Aroha College’s Medication Competency Training is a non-accredited workshop that focuses on the essential knowledge and skills required to safely administer medications to participants or residents.

At the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify potentially risky situations before giving medications
  • Prepare for medication administration
  • Identify and prepare the client for medication administration
  • Administer medications within legal parameters
  • Monitor client’s response to administered medication
  • Handle medication contingencies
  • Complete medication distribution and administration

Who Can Benefit

Our Medication Competency Trainings prepares Aged Care, Disability and Homecare professionals or carers to administer medications to people and monitor them, as per the delegation from a relevant health professional, in accordance with legislation and the employing organisation’s medication and delegation policies and practice.

This course is suitable for:

  • Carers or Assistant in Nursing (AINs)
  • Registered Nurses and enrolled nurses working in residential aged care
  • Home care workers
  • Disability support workers

Refund and Cancellation Policy for Training Workshops
Please be aware that no refunds will be issued for missed or unattended scheduled workshops. Aroha College reserves the right to cancel any training sessions if enrolment numbers are too low to proceed. To ensure a high-quality learning experience, each workshop requires a minimum number of participants.

If a session is cancelled due to insufficient enrolment, all registered students will receive notification via email or phone at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time. We appreciate your understanding and recommend confirming your availability before booking.

  • Receive your Certificate: Upon successfully completing the in-person training and assessments, you will be issued a Certificate of Completion to validate your new skills and knowledge.

The course is delivered in 3 hours face-to-face at our Perth training centre. 

This course is entirely theoretical and delivered online. It includes theoretical assessments and learning materials to help you understand the principles of medication administration. While there is no hands-on practical training, the course is designed to provide you with the knowledge you need to apply in real-world settings.
