Getting around

  • Cycling

Perth Cycleways has all the information you need to get you riding on a bike, including maps, tips and many more resources. There’s even a list of bike hire options, so you don’t have to worry if you haven’t brought your own bike!

  • Public transport

Our area features a comprehensive public transport network of train, bus and ferry services. Light rail, sightseeing buses and taxis complement the network.

Perth offers an extensive public transport system such as buses, trains and ferries. To access these facilities, it is recommended for you to purchase a Transperth, SmartRider card. You can purchase SmartRider card at Perth Airport, Infocentres and retail outlets. It is a great way to visit attractions across the city and surrounding suburbs.

  • Walking

Walking is one of the best ways to get around our area. All the city’s villages are within walking distance or just a short commute to the city centre.

  • Public toilets

Public toilet facilities can be found in a variety of locations across Perth City. Some of which are located at TransPerth public transport system (including train stations and bus stations during station operating hours. Other public toilets can also be located in your nearest parks, library or Citiplace Rest Centres.

  • Shopping and business hours

Most major shops and department stores are open 7 days a week such as Hay Street Mall, a shopping strip in the heart of the city of Perth. The mall features several department stores, easy access to shopping arcades as well as specialty stores. Hay Street Mall is also lined with many heritage-listed buildings and plenty of food options. Late night shopping takes place on Friday evenings, with many stores open until 9pm.

Banks and post offices are open Monday to Friday. Some post offices open on Saturday mornings.
